Walking at a theme park

I'm going to Disney this weekend. We go for a friends birthday every year and I know we must walk ten miles running around the park all day, but there's really no way for me to log the walking time or distance. Is there a reasonable way I could estimate it?

The best I could come up with is a pedometer. Is that a realistic way to figure out a rough average of distance walking? I'm not really sure I've never owned one.

Are there any other ideas? I know Nike had those fancy shoes that had something like a satellite tracker on them which might be able to give me a good distance estimate.

Thanks in advance

I guess you could use a step counter.

My $.02, go and enjoy yourself. Take a best guess at how much you walked and be done with it.

I agree...have fun! You could wear a HRM to see what your calorie burn was for the day??? Just a thought.....

Yeah, I would say to keep trying to log what you ate, but don't worry about going over because you are getting way more exercise than normal and you are prolly burning a lot more calories than normal. It's a vacation, so it's ok to let your diet be a little lax as long as you get back to it when you get home.

I got a step counter and recorded 10.6 miles walking around the parks throughout the day.

A few years ago a friend brought one and recorded 16 miles. We definitely weren't running around at the same pace as the one a few years ago. So, a little over ten miles seems reasonable.

When I go to seaworld I just keep track of the time I'm walking compared to when I'm sitting (to eat or watch shows). It's usually a good solid 4 hours of walking. MFP doesn't track by miles so if you can keep track of how long your walking or guesstimate you will be fine :)

(next time I go I'm gonna use my HRM!)

I know they don't track miles, but I just took the miles and used the basic 3 mph walking speed to calculate the time.

I used 200 minutes at 3 mph (3.33 hours). It actually looks a little light for the 12 hours I was at the park, but it's an estimate and I'm ok with it.

I got an HRM, but I didn't figure out how it works well enough to trust the results.
