I have never really had a problem with my weight. I took dance classes the whole time I was growing up. I was always active and in shape. If I happened to find an extra 5-10 pounds I could lose it no problem. Last March (a year ago) I quit smoking and without changing my diet or exercise habits I gained 20 pounds in the first month. I decided to get my butt in gear to lose it and started monitoring my calorie intake and going to the gym at my work 3 days a week and taking 2 cardio kick boxing classes a week. After 2 months I had gained another 10 pounds. Over the next 7 months I was on again/off again going to the gym and pretty much stopped watching my diet. Okay, I ate like crap. Somehow I managed to stay at 192 and not gain a single pound. Talk about annoying! I was exercising and dieting and gained weight. When I stop, so does my weight.

After a minor bout of depression following the holidays, a friend of mine referred me here to really work on tracking what I eat and encouraged me to start exercising again. I have been using this site for over 2 months now to track my food/calories and exercise. I have actually managed to lose 10 pounds over 3 months and this past weekend I gained 3 pounds while only going over my calorie goal by 200 one day.

My first mini-goal was to get under 180 pounds and my second one was to be around 175 by the time I went on vacation the last week of April. Here it is the middle of April and I haven't even hit my first goal yet. I'm frustrated so I figure I should join the community defer to the experts. I have realized there are so many resources here I haven't tapped into yet.
