I did day one week 5 of c25k today on the last of 3, 5 min jogs i decided to keep going i did 20 mins in total for that jog, therefore 30 mins in total. Last year before my diet started ( 2 1/2 stone heavier or35lbs)and a heavy smoker ( quit feb 6th 2011). I work in a school with 12-13 year olds and when playing cricket after 3 runs thought I was going to die used to get out on purpose. Yet now I can jog for 20 mins cant wait for cricket to restart so I can show off and impress my students with how much fitter I am. Also my male colleauge used to love trying to show me up as an unfit fat girl as he is an ex semi pro cricket player and now he won't be able to.

Good for you! What an accomplishment(s). So proud of you for quitting smoking to boot. That takes some determination to lose weight and quit smoking at the same time! High 5!0

Great job! I am doing a modified version of C25K... and sometimes, I run longer than what is prompted, and it feels soooo good when I do.
when I say modified... I may do some weeks longer and run more often than 3x per week...
Great job, though!!! Keep it up!
And bless you for being a teacher!!!!!!

what are all these C25K and W7D2 things you guys are talking about?
I want to be jogging by the end of the summer, right now I just walk. Any advice on how to get in shape for this?0 -

C25K - couch to 5 K
W7D2 - week 7 day 2 (I think?)
I'm in the same boat. I use to be a runner and now not so I'm starting from scratch. You begin by making yourself small goals. Right now I run on a tredmill so I'll walk for 5 mins then jog for 1 then back to 5 mins walk then jog for 1 min. Slowly you change these settings. Now I'm at a 2 min walk warm up then I jog for 5 mins and then 2 min walk..etc. I've been doing this for a week now and feel confident that I can up the number of mins jogged. I do this everyday for only 20 mins a day. Eventually I'll take out the walking parts. Good luck!0 -
if you google couch 2 5 k it is a free of charge 9 week plan with 3 workouts a week. The workouts mix running and walking and build length of jogs untill at the end of week 9 you can do 30 minutes or 5k. Loads of Mfp use it and I would recommend it you can also down load mp3 music designed to allow you to have running/walking music that changes for you but I use a stop watch. I have never been a runner and could hardly do a minute at the start so dont be nervous it is designed for the complete beginer. I love it now getting out in the fresh air and feel much less stressed after but you can do it on a treadmill as well0
