I heard a rumor that if I burn up all my calories in one day I will loose a ton of weight quickly. What I understood from this is if I eat 1200 calories and I burn 1200 calories I won't have my body go into starvation mode and I'll loose. That sounds wonderful but is it true?
Another question is how can I do it when all my exercise ability is walking right now?

That rumor is crap, plain and simple. You have to fuel your body by eating good food. So eat yuor alot cals, then if you exercise eat those also.0
