I really could use some advice on buying one...I'm thinking I really need one so I know how many calories I'm burning....but don't know where to get one or what kind!!!!

You can get them at sporting goods stores, at Walmart/Target or Amazon.com just google HRM. Polar is probably the most popular brand, I have one I bought through the Polar website in 2007.0

I would suggest getting one with a chest strap as they are better to calculate an accurate HR.
