  Here is a good source for an inexpensive kitchen scale.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160188973991&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr12_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT&refitem=380052332333&itemcount=12&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m183&_trkparms=algo=CRX&its=S%2BI%2BSS&itu=ISS%2BUCI%2BSI&otn=12

It's found on Ebay and I just bought it for $5.99 plus 4.99 s&h, which is good for me, because I don't know how much I'm going to end up using it, and I don't feel like hunting for it IRL.

Yay me!

You'll have to let me know what you think of it. I have been considering getting a scale, b/c up to this point I've been eyeballing everything. Not accurate, I know! It's a good price, just not sure that I would really use it. Will I be deterred by having to clean it every meal? Dunno. But I am interested to hear what you think after you've had it for 30 days.

I love my kitchen scale, I probably use it almost everyday. There are a lot of inexpensive ones that are still good at local stores, I got mine from Meijer for about $15. Mine has a removable tray for washing, which is really handy. If I am measuring like foods I don't bother, but it's really easy to just squirt a little soap and rinse it out for those in-between washes. Make sure to get one that is dishwasher safe too since it's a lot easier to throw it in there at the end of each day. The only thing I hate is when things are measured by liquid ounces rather than by weight. My scale doesn't show grams, so I have to find a website to convert grams to ounces before weighing some stuff, like ice cream.....unless I melt it down first and then freeze it again, haha.

Maybe one day I will upgrade to a fancy digital one, but for now my 15 dollar meijer scale works just fine.

I'll be sure to do that. The description of the item says that the cup/tray for the food is detachable and can be washed (don't know about dishwasher safe, but my dishwashers have two hands each ).

I will use it for meats, for sure, as my bulk chicken and fish doesn't always come pre-weighed. AFter I saw that video about weight and measure accuracy, I got a little concerned.
