I would like to see if there if any college students here that are trying to lose weight and how they are fairing against college life. I'm currently a Freshman Marine Bio major and the dorm food is killing me!
I started at 199bs+ and am trying to get down to 150lbs-160lbs. I'm at 179lbs right now.

i just graduated in may. It was SO hard for me to maintain my weight in college. I constantly made excuses not to go to the gym and all the late night eats and energy drinks and coffee was bad news. Good luck to you! I recommend trying to buy alot of stuff. yogurt, microwave meals (even though they have kinda alot of sodium) and only eat healthy at the dinning hall. I also used to keep cereal in my dorm room and milk so that I could have a relatively healthy late night snack.
We have similar goals! I started at 197 and am at 181. Looking to get at 155ish.
keep up the great work and don't give in to temptation!!!0 -
Im a senior and I successfully fought off the freshman 15 but that following summer I moved back home and over induldged in good home made food. I didn't like the cafeteria food much so i didn't eat a lot and I walked a lot with a big heavy backpack. Once I discovered beer is when I packed on 120lbs and didn't even notice until a friends casually said something. Most colleges have gyms - use them. Or just use it as a safe place to walk, jog, rollerblade, skateboard, etc. Use the stairs even if you don't have to. Get creative with the salad bar and avoid the deserts.0

I'm not a college student any more, but I was not long ago and I was trying to lose weight then too. Dorm food can be tough but you can get creative. Also try to keep portions in control because that alone will help a ton! If you can, try to get to the store and buy some healthier snacks for yourself so you're not tempted by other options.
As for outside of the cafeteria, don't stop going out with your friends, college is about fun! But, try to be the one suggesting the places to eat so you can check out menus first to see what kinds of places will have lots of healthier options for you.
As for working out, its a great stress relief and if you're the kind of person who can read on a treadmill, you can multitask while working out! Bonus.
Good luck, you can do it! I lost weight all through college so its totally possible!0 -
Thanks for all the tips you guys! Yeah, so far I've have found that when I get slammed with exams and stuff is the hardest time for me to stay in control. I love my school gym thought, especially since it gets sketchy around here at night.0

Yes! I am a second year Culinary Nutrition major trying to get my self together. It's definitely a challenge but staying focused will help us get through it.0
