If so, how do you enter things like this in your exercise journal? If you do one that includes upper body strength training and carry 5lb weights through the whole thing...what then? I often do exercises that I'm not quite sure how to enter. Thanks.

I have the 5 mile one and I just put it in as walking. I dont have a heartrate monitor yet.
  • I usually enter them as Aerobics, low impact and don't count the warm up or cool down time... but I just bought a HRM today because I am tired of guesstimating!

I have a few of them and used to log them as walking 3.5 miles per hour or whatever corresponded to the video I was using. After I bought a heart rate monitor I used that to figure out what I was burning and found it was A LOT less than what MFP was giving me credit for. I highly recommend getting a HRM if you can swing it. It's not going to be perfect but it will get you closer to the ballpark than MFP's estimates. All the exercises I do I now track with my HRM and all of them were estimated far higher by MFP.

Not surprisingly, my weight loss has sped up since getting my HRM.
