17 Day Diet and Calories Question

I am on Day 3 of the 17 day diet and am using this site to keep track of water intake/calories/exercise. Last night, I put in my last entry and I had only eaten 646 calories. I was in no way starving myself and I did eat. Seeing the little warning below the daily totals freaked me out... What do you do? Want the weight loss, but don't want to eat just to eat - that is part of the problem I am trying to resolve.

I'm not a nutritionist, but MFP tells me net at least 1200. That's what I would aim for, more food0

Simple answer: Eat. 600 calories a day is way too low, you are starving your body. 1200 minimum
eat that low will cause weight loss, but it wont be fat. Goodbye muscle!
the 17 day diet is just another fad, what happens on day 18?
Lifestyle change is the best. i would suggest using mfp and you will see success0 -
If you are having trouble eating the calories, maybe you should add more to each meal to up the calories....you're body needs a certain number of calories a day to survive....not eating enough isn't good for your body....0

haha i know ;D there a phases of 17 days right? But im just saying that after the last phase or whatever, then what? Seems like temporary weight loss to me. Not a fan on fad diets at all xD0 -
if what i've read is right, the first 17 days are SUPER restrictive, then you get to add more stuff back during the second, third, and fourth cycles, with the 5th cycle being the one that teaches "maintenance". if that's the case, you might not do too much damage by netting so few calories to begin with, since you'll be adding more stuff back later, but i don't recommend doing that more than twice a week - and not on consecutive days, either. i've heard a lot of stories from people whose bodies take WEEKS to recover from stuff like that.
having made my high-horse point, i agree with the others who said find ways to work more food into each meal. it's the only way to really get more calories in there without making yourself sick by eating a huge meal at the end of the day trying to catch up (and that's from my own personal experience). i don't know specifically what meals or snacks to suggest, as i haven't done much research into this particular diet - and i don't intend to, either, since i know from just reading reviews that i wouldn't be able to handle it.
in any case, good luck trying to make this thing work for you, and congratulations on choosing a path that you think will take you where you wanna go. i hope you make it.0 -
I really want to try this diet . it seems a good one , not just a fad. the only problem for me is that i dont eat meat (or chicken, or seafood, I just eat fish currently but would probably drop that soon) and the doctor who developed the diet relies heavily on animal protein for most meals soo im kinda hesitant i will have to figure out if i wanna do it or not.
anyways. i heard the doctor speak about it many times and i think i remember that one time he said something about 1200 calories a day. so yuh definitely don't be scared to eat more... as long as you're adhering to the specific rules of the cycle you are in and following the foods you're allowed to it, then it doesn't matter if you eat three of those meals or six of those meals. aim for 1200 cus otherwise, I think this is not gonna work in the long term. good luck!!!!!!!!:)0 -
I am reading the book and you are definitely not limited on the vegetables so load up on them.... eat more.0

Thank you all so much!!! I am determined to lose the weight once and for all, but am also trying not to eat when I am not hungry. The whole 1200 calories makes perfect sense. So, I am trying to integrate the 17 day diet as much as I can but am eating additional calories to keep the calorie intake at 1200. Hope that made sense! I appreciate the guidance!!0

Hi ya.
Your calorie count should be around 1200 for the day...It sounds like you need more protein...and veggies.
I've been on it since January.
