So many people forgo a good stretch. I've been all bound up in my shoulder blades so many times and stretching my hamstrings alleviates the knots and tension. Everything is connected.

That's solid advice right there. I have always hated stretching because it's so uncomfortable for my tight muscles, but I've come to love it recently as it really helps a lot!

For six months, I wasn't able to really move so now that my back is feeling a bit better, I love a good stretch. I start the day by simply reaching up as far as I can and sucking in my stomach muscles. Other times through the day, I'll do a random thigh or hamstring stretch. It feels great!!
  • I did an about an hour of just stretching last night and it felt great. Sometimes it is just what the body needs.

Stretching is a very important factor to ANY workout. Helps improve blood flow, prevent injuries, help relieve inflamed muscles, and helps get rid of latic acid. (The stuff that makes you sore.)

Just make sure you are warmed up first. Don't want to pull anything. ;)

Great advice. I don't stretch enough.
  • Totally agreed.

I've always stretched more after a big workout, rather than a 3 minutes one.

I tried to stretch before muscles being very warm, a couple of times, and hurt myself. Since then I warm up with light moves, work out, and Then is when I spent 5 to 10 minutes stretching seriously. Once the muscles are warm you can push yourself more safely.

This is my experience, you may not feel the same way...
  • When I go for a mtn bike ride, I usually ride up a ways then stretch. It seems you can stretch further and more effectively this way.
