walking vs jogging

I have a quick question about jogging. When I am on my treadmill, I usually walk between 3-3.5 mph. But once I hit 4mph, I feel more comfortable jogging. I am just wondering if there is a major calorie difference in JOGGING 4mph versus WALKING 4mph. All of the "calories burned" calculators I've ever seen only have 4mph as "walking".... so I'm not sure how to measure it. I really need to invest in a HRM to know for sure, but for the time being I figured I'd just ask here and get some opinions. Thank you

Usually yes but it depends on your motion. If you "power walk" in a jogging motion than it's just a factor of speed. However if you are just in a walking motion then you burn slightly less calories.0

if you want to test your heart rate without a monitor do the "talk test"
as in how fast your heat beat is going vs. whether you can you still talk or not0
