i hear its really good for you (but usually from drunks trying to justify it. although i do believe in the heart benefits)
i drink one glass of red wine about an hour before bed to help me wind down after a stressful day and ive always told myself its fine because its healthy for you
but its an extra 90 calories before bed and im starting to worry about it
should i just enjoy my glass of wine and realize that it's healthy for me? or should i ditch it and look to find other ways to wind down and relax in the evening?

If you enjoy it and it's only 90 cals, I say go for it. I know not everyone will agree. But I would just save out the calories for it, so you don't go over. Not sure how much only one glass of wine would hinder weight loss.0

it is ninety calories and if that gives you anxiety and makes you worry about your consumption in terms of staying on goal, then it's no longer relaxing....
but personally, i would give up chocolate before I gave up my weekly (sometimes almost daily depending on the kids and my career) glass of wine.

I have always thought that red wine was good for you in moderation. My problem is once a bottle is corked....I cant re-cork it  Otherwise I think I would drink a glass a day myself0

I agree! As long as its not 3, 4, 5... 6 etc... you are fine. And I have also heard red wine is good for you, and not just from drunks! One glass a day won't kill u! My grandmother drank 1 manhattan up a day (sometimes more) and lived to be 96!! I wouldn't worry about it!

I agree with everyone else, especially if it is something you look forward to and is a little treat. 90 calories is not much at all, and it isn't like you are drinking a bottle-its a glass. I tend to agree with the other girl, once I uncork a bottle it usually ends up getting finished, and then some.
I am trying to cut out alcohol unless it is my day off..I live in vegas and am a server therefore ALL of my friends drink every day (and not just a little bit.) I found that it completely threw off my healthy-plan, I end up drinking way too much. First off it is bad for me because I would drink a lot, and it is mostly empty calories. Second off, I would not want to work out the next day. Third, when I drink a lot, I do not think about what I put in my body and usually when I am drunk I crave junk food.
I have limited myself to choosing better drinks when I do have one. Like choosing a glass of red wine over a margarita, or a vodka & soda with a lime instead of a vodka cran. (usually bar cranberry juice is mostly sugar-it is cranberry cocktail not 100% juice)
But a glass of red wine has healthy benefits and isn't like eating a bowl of ice cream every night. If it makes you happy-go for it!
Just remember: "All things in moderation" and it is fine!0 -

i just got back from vacation there ;{
sometimes i do find it hard not to have one extra glass but i dont think i ever exceed three and never more than once a week
im also an insomniac sleepwalker and nights i drink wine i dont sleep walk so thats another plus
i just cant stand some of the looks i get when i mention that i drink wine every night
people think im some sort of wino ;{0 -
A wino? For one glass a night? HARLDY!
LOL it is weird in Vegas if you don't drink- you would never be called an alcoholic (or wino) for one glass a night!
Some people are just against alcohol in general. It isn't like you are drinking a pint glass of vodka a night, it is a glass of wine. And I have heard that red wine is the best (as far as alcohol goes) so just don't listen to them. When people aren't educated correctly they make unfair judgements and assumptions, so the best thing you can do is just ignore the people who throw those looks out and enjoy your glass of wine.0 -
I wouldn't worry about it at all. A glass or two isn't a problem, if you were drinking a whole bottle a night, then maybe you might want to cut back, but 90 calories isn't so much and there are health benefits. I used to have a glass or two of wine almost every night, but I've cut back to 1 glass only a few nights a week. If I know I'm going out to dinner or might be tempted to have a few glasses instead of wine I always try to workout a little extra to cover the extra calories.0
