Trying to eat too healthy = weight gain for me

heyy guys! So I have noticed that on days I try to eat "perfectly" (no processed food), I tend to overeat later on. But on days I indulge, like even in a simple granola bar, I am satisfied. Is this just me? And for some odd odd reason, salads make me want to eat a ton, even if I add adequate protein and fats. What are your daily indulgences (even if it is healthy) that keep you on track?

Maybe your body's caloric needs are higher than what the math says. The numbers are just guides so it's nice to hear that you listen to your body and eat a bit more when you need it. Assuming it's physical and not emotional, you're golden. :)

For me it is motts pre-sliced apples. One packet 30 calories and it allows me to munch without concern that I am tipping the scale in any one direction. I just have to remind myself to take two or three bites of each slice. The longer it takes me to eat the more full I feel ^.~

    Good Luck!

When I make salads, I make them HUGE... so I CAN eat a ton! I made a salad for dinner tonight, it was a massive bowl, and it came to something like 460 calories (120 calories of which came from a can of tuna). By the time I got towards the end of it, I was definitely full and didn't have any desire to eat anymore! So with salads, you CAN do that, because you can add a ton of veggies and they really only add minimal amounts of calories. And I'd suggest making your own dressing, which is what I do. You can alter the dressing recipe and only use a little bit of oil, if any at all, to help cut down on calories and fat.

If you are having a problem with overeating when you don't give yourself something "extra", there is nothing wrong with having a granola bar. You will still lose weight, even with that included!

Tamari almonds... these are sold in the bulk bins in some grocery stores and local co-ops. They're just a little more excitng than regular raw almonds. I literally count out 16 and have them for a snack between breakfast and lunch. They are super tasty and certainly keep away the hunger pangs

I also do almonds and just found the cocoa covered ones that add minimal sodium! My other indulgence is skinny cow anything! They are all good but I expecially like the french vanilla truffle bar!

I can't get full on salad, no matter how big of a plate I have. I'm hungry about an hour later. I have to have carbs. I actually make sure I have carbs with every meal. I don't do the low carb, low fat, low whatever diet...I've done int in the best and I just love food too much so once I get back on it again, I gained the weight back. So this time, I'm not cutting out any food group. If I have a salad, I make sure I accompany it with a piece of wholemeal bread, whole grain if I can find it. For lunch, I always have 1/2 cup - 1 cup of brown rice and for dinner, either another slice of bread or 1/2 cup of rice...

I've lost 21 lbs the past 3 months and I don't feel deprived. But I am hungry ALL THE TIME so I always have apples and pears nearby!

Today, it's a home made pizza... Yesterday it was a banana..or 2. Little of everything I love. For me, it's mind over body; I usually am pretty full though.
