Sleep Paralysis

Not really fitness related, but I guess it kind of is because they say getting adequate sleep helps with weight loss. Anyway, is there anyone out there reading this that suffers from this and can give me any advice on dealing with it? If so please take a look at my blog http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/shaheerahs/view/sleep-93388 and comment or just comment here.
Thank you so much, I appreciate any advice anyone can offer.

Yep i have sleep paralysis and have done since i was a young child. Ive been on sleeping medications, had hypnosis and lots of different types of therapy. Nothing has worked.
It has seemed to get less frequent the older i get which is one positive but if im worried/stressed it kicks off again. A few years ago i was in a bad marriage and had them nearly every night and refused to sleep. Once i left him and got my life sorted out they reduced by alot. I think they happen more if im going through a bad patch in my life.
They are the worse feeling ever and many a time ive been left scared to sleep for a few days.0 -
If its any consolation, it happens to me too. And yeah, it is scary
It doesnt happen that often to me so I never really think about it, but I would definitely say it happens more when I'm dreaming of something real that I dont let myself think about!!?? So yeah, I guess its stress related. And I would say I'm not a stressed out person either, but that's the point, sometimes I hold issues inside and try to ignore it.
Hmmm!! As I say, I dont really think about it as it donest happen often, but now I'm thinking about it, I think I've answered my own questions!!
Perhaps you dont show outward stress, but it manifests in subconsious sleep??
At least I know its happening now, so I tend to will myself to wake up out of it by saying 'wake up, wake up.........' over and over in my head.
I'm sorry you've lost so much sleep :flowerforyou:0 -
It has not happened to me for a few years now,but it used to happen all the time.It was so scary.I never even knew what it was till a year or 2 ago.Thankfully it hasnt happened in a long time.I dont know of many ways to prevent it.Mine was brought on by drug abuse.I have heard stress is a factor also.0

Thanks everyone, you know you're right, I don't show stress on the outside, but sometimes it is because I just hold things in. I guess I need to take a step back and figure out and deal with what has started this up. Truthfully I think I kinda know what it is already.Hopefully that will make it stop again. Wish me luck.
I'll also try telling myself to wake up. That's a good idea, hopefully it will work for me too
Thanks again you all are the best!0
