How do you take the calories from beef mince? Is it after it's been cooked, or before? For example, 125 of Tesco British Beef Mince contains 315 calories, but if this is uncooked, then surely it's lower after it's been grilled?

Cheers

I'm using Quorn mince so not so sure - i just take whats on the packet - some packets will give you per 100g raw and then per xxg cooked - all depends on the brand

I always go by what's on the packet, so I'd be logging 315 for 125g raw weight - unless like Sarah says it is specified.
  • i do the same... just be sure to drain thoroughly...

    Thanks All

The packet I had wasn't' particularly generous with the stats! Off to find a better one...

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I've always weighed my meat portions after they've been cooked. I wouldn't think that beef mince would be any different than steak, chicken, or fish.

Try looking up ground beef. It has alot of ways to log it in according to how much it weighs and how you cook it.

    Will do thanks...

It's hard when it comes to mince, as it's one of my faves, and when trying the slimming world diet, you can eat as much as you want (then again, I wouldn't be here if that had worked) :)

I read it as beef mice and was about afraid to open! Must be looking at the computer too long. Not any help with your question though. :)
