I'm new to the site, and absolutely love it! The support is amazing!!!!!!!!!

Which is better for you on helping you to lose?

Walking for 20 min you burn 128 cal. I walk very fast, arms pumpin'!

ET for 10 min 115 caloires, can't last 20 min yet. At one time I could do an hour and you
would have thought I hit the lottery when I was done I was so excited!!!!!!!!!!!! lol!!!!

I've know both are good. I run a daycare in my home, and I can walk every day during naptime, so
that I know I will get in.

The ET, would be more of a "when am i going to do this"....

Just want some advise/suggestions on what your thoughts are.

Thanks for all the support, just started yesterday, and love it!!!!!!!!!!!

if you think that is hard try the Arc Trainer lol. It is kind of like a treadmill and elliptical in one. I burn more calories on that then I ever have running on the treadmill lol.

Personally I love the elliptical, I burn way more calories than walking and I feel like it works way more muscles than just walking, especially my arms. I bought a cheap one from walmart and hop on it when my tv shows come on :)

Well I have an ET in my house, that is why I'm trying to decide, but thanks for the tip, wish I had a treadmill too! lol!

Do whichever you enjoy more...you'll be more likely to stick with it. I hate to exercise, but I like walking so I go for long brisk walks and may not burn tons of calories, but I would be far more likely to find excuses to skip it altogether if I was doing something I dreaded-lol.

Good job on your 12 lbs loss, that is awesome! Ok, I guess maybe on the weekend I can do the ET and during the week
walk! I just want to make this a "priority", so I'm just wanting the best that I know my butt will do. :)

If you can, I would say to alternate them - they will each use slightly different muscles. Particularly if your ellliptical has the arm workout attachments! With the elliptical you can change the vertical step too.

I agree with the arc trainer - OMG! My calves hurt for 2 days after using that one!

Bottom line is to do SOMETHING - and if the walking is easier to fit in, do that. If you can add elliptical a couple/few days a week to your walking regime, you will build up your time.

Are you able to add any strength training yet? I have just started adding strength - not to "build" muscles, but to tone and increase metabolism. It could be as easy as small hand-held weights in your living room while watching Grey's Anatomy

THANKS! I am going to start doing more strenght training, I have weights in the daycare room and can do them as they play.

They love watching me and will copy with me their blocks! Way cute!

I love my elliptical! Got it a couple of years ago - was in a biggest Lose contest at work and lost 30 lb. I started out doing about 10 minutes on it as soon as I got up in the morning and worked my way up to an hour every morning before getting ready for work.

I liked it because I could vary the ramp and resistance and got so I'd set both as high as I could and go full speed for a minute and then back one down and slow down for a minute or two, back the other down for a minute or two and then full speed at the highest settings for another minute. I didn't need to travel anywhere or worry about how I looked. It didn't matter if it was raining or too hot or cold outside.

After a year I felt a need to change it up a bit, joined the gym so I could take Zumba and Boot Camp and those sorts of things and have begun using weights too. But, on a slow day when I just don't feel like driving somewhere, I still go to the basement and visit the lonely ET for a while - don't have to worry about make up or hair - the only one who watches is the cat and he doesn't care. My ET was the beginning of a wonderful story.
