Core Body Temperature

So I have been reading tons of stuff about triathlons lately since I am doing my first one June 11. A lot of articles talk about keeping your core body temperature down & how it lets you have more energy if you can keep your core body temp from rising. But none of them say how! I live in Arkansas...June 11 last year the high temp was 106 degrees! So besides staying hydrated, how can I keep my core body temp down? Should I just workout in the heat as much as possible between now & then or is there something I can do on race day to keep cool?
