Hi all so I'm getting close to my goal weight which I am really excited about! However, I don't know what to do after that. How do I need to change my diet so I can stay on track? I don't want to gain back all this weight I've worked so hard to loose?
Any suggestions would be awesome!
Thanks MFP's

    Hi katiezi!

I'm planning on changing my settings on MFP to maintenance mode and will probably continue tracking everything until I feel that I can handle myself on my lonesome. Like training wheels, till I'm ready to bike solo!

    Hi,

My weight loss journey (for the most part) took place between four and five years ago. At my heaviest in August 2006, I was at 197 (well, it was higher than that when I was pregnant....but my highest non-pregnancy weight), and at my lowest in November 2007, I was at 125. In 15 months, I lost 72 pounds.

Over the course of last winter, I gained 22 of those, and have now lost 10-12 of them again (depending on the day). In my mind, I'd like to range between 130-135, and I've been between 135-140 for about a year.

How has my diet changed since I'm not more or less in maintenance? Well, I still try to eat healthy most of the time -- eat breakfast (usually oatmeal), lots of salads for lunch, yogurt and fruit for supper, etc. HOWEVER, if I have something special going on -- weddings/graduations/retirement dinners/vacations/etc., I let myself go and enjoy them. I try not to go overboard, and I know that the next day, I'll need to get back to watching what I eat more closely.

I've also walked, walked, and walked some more in the last five years. I'm not sure how many miles, but it was over 1600 last year, and my goal for this year is 1800. It's basically the only form of exercise I do.....but my 20-year-old daughter and I are planning to work on toning this summer when she is home from college.

Just know that you've embarked on a new LIFEstyle, and you will probably always have to pay attention to what you do both when eating and exercising.

Good luck, and congratulations on nearing your goal weight
