So my friend is dragging me out tonight (I haven't drank in a few weeks, definitely trying to cut back, cuz I know it's horrible for weight loss)
My question is, does anyone know what the most accurate listing on MFP for a Margarita on the Rocks (w/o salt) is??? I've looked at all and they're all a bit different, and I've looked ang googled online....
Wish the place I was going to had Skinny Girl Margarita's cuz I've really wanted to try those, but they don't.
Thanks to anyone who responds

I have no idea. But, I had someone take cucumber vodka (they use it in bloody marys) and mix it with water and then squeeze lemons and limes in it. It tastes like that cucumber water they serve at spas and it was under 100 calories (though I put 100 in my diary to be safe)0

Maybe try a virgin margarita? Fun is what you make it, alcohol or no . . . . Have a great time!0

Margaritas are pretty much the worst possible thing you can drink, calorie-wise. I'd say go for a bacardi and diet.0

:frown: my stomach has sum probs with like vodka n rum n stuff, so lately I try to stick to tequila based drinks...thought I'd maybe just get one Margarita and 2-3 tequila shots throughout the night since those seem to be like 70-100 cals I think??0

@ Sumo - have bad memories with Bacardi hahaha....I think of it and want to die right now lol....I know I'm a pain and eventually need to try better options....butttt It's better than what I used to drink which were several Long Island Iced Tea's (Just found out those have like close to 800 cals in them :noway: grosssss)0

I think it's really going to vary from place to place. Depending on what proportions they are using. Probably best to guesstimate (is that a word?)0

@ Crystal - lol yeah that's what I figured, and yes guesstimate is most definitely a word in my opinion!!!! :bigsmile:0

This is tough because there are different sugar/lime mix varieties out there. My advice would be to stay away from any generic sugar based margarita mixes(most bars use this because of cost). Find out if the bar serves 'fresh lime' margaritas. This way you know your drink wont contain any processed ingredients or sugar.
A home made fresh lime Margarita contains :
1 Lime(1oz lime juice) = 8 cal http://www.ichange.com/nutrition/item/id/4344
.5 oz of orange liquor = 40 cal (1 oz = 80cal) http://www.drinksmixer.com/desc270.html
1.5 oz of Silver Tequila = 103.5 ca; (1 oz = 69) http://www.drinksmixer.com/desc1495.html
Your looking at a total of 151.8 cal for a 4 oz drink by time you add ice and shake. Its not a big drink if you make one at home, so most bars will most likely double this to a normal 8 oz or 12 oz drink.
8 oz = 303.6 cal (normal size bar drink)
12 oz = 455.4 cal
Have fun!0 -
Thanks for everyone's advice and answer's :flowerforyou: ...but unfortunately they just canceled on me....sooo, looks like I'll be staying home yet again lol
But I'll keep this in mind for the next time I *do* go out....0 -
order a shot of tequila and a diet sprite/gingerale in a salted glass and a bowl of limes
the waitress will look at you weird but it cuts the calories of a margarita down SO much
my friends call it the white trash margarita xD0
