Nutrient Hunger?

You know that "hungry feeling" you get without stomach pain and you ignore it because you think it's probably boredom? Ever wonder if your body is telling you that your diet is starving you of something it needs? It's a theory.

I think people gain weight faster when they don't get the proper nutrients. I can't prove it, but it makes sense. Your theory makes sense too.

My trainer has me on 2000 calories in order to make sure I get the proper nutrients and not pass out. I definately think you're on to something...0

I had random bruising a few years ago and was just *craving* oranges. I went to the doctor for the bruising and he did blood work. I had a mild vit C deficiency. Then I'm always craving dark chocolate during TOM - and that's high in iron. It really does make sense. I'm not saying that one should always have free range to stuff their face, but when you get that jittery/irritated hunger it's probably a good idea to start looking at the options in the food diary that displays different vitamin consumption and see if anything's lacking. :-)0

If anyone knows what i would be deficient in if I'm craving baked beans please let me know..

I'm a follower of this theory, as well. Taking a magnesium supplement has helped with my chocoholicism LOL0

For you who's craving the baked beans, You might be craving either protein or startch. The baby back ribs might be a protein craving too. I'm a vegetarian, and I don't always eat enough protein. I actually start craving burgers even though I don't like the tast of meat!0

I think our bodies are a lot more intelligent that we really know. The thing is, it's incredibly difficult to gain evidence to support this type of physiological theory as there are so many confounding variables to discount....just look at the debate that exercise calories causes!0 -

My vegetarian sister actually had a couple burgers from McDonalds when she was pregnant - her cravings were that bad. X-D0
