I've been running 3.5 miles on my lunch break for the last little while. When I'm done I'm all hot, but then I change, eat some lunch and get back to my office. About 1.5 hours later I am FREEZING COLD. so so cold,! I usually put on a second sweater but it takes forever to warm up again.

Does this happen to anyone else? I'm wondering if its related to my workout somehow. I have really really low blood pressure so I don't know if that would be a factor

This is normal. When you run, your body temperature increases (up to 10 degrees!). So naturally when you stop, you will be chilly. Monitor your blood pressure and if its not under control, see a doctor. But otherwise, you have nothing to worry about. I have semi-low blood pressure too :flowerforyou:

I always get cold after lunch time, and most of the other people I work with do too. I don't get to exercise during a lunch break when I'm at the office.

It sure does! I get so cold that my teeth will start chattering. I also have low blood pressure and I've found that the chills are directly connected with my blood pressure dropping after I've worked out.

That's been happening to me too, no idea why. I go on long walks/hikes get super warm then have to wrap up in a blanket when I get home because I'm so cold.

It wasn't too too low at my last appointment. but I rarely go to the doctor. Just curious, what would they even do for it?

I usually turn the fan on so it hits me and within 5 minutes I'm freezing cold and have to turn it off. I think it's normal after sweating

i haven't worked up to running yet, but i did start a new job last week that has me pretty much active the whole day where i had been fairly sedentary before, and i noticed when i got home, after about half an hour of relaxing, i would be freezing. it's really weird for me because i am always hot.i haven't thought to check blood pressure as mine has always been pretty normal. now i wonder, and am going to check tomorrow.

I freeze after I run ... now I live in Wisconsin so that might have something to do with it. But yes I think its pretty normal... but it sure is annoying! :)

Yes I have noticed this too. I go to the gym in the evening, and then come home and realx for a bit before going to bed, but I am usually freezing by the time I am ready for bed. Glad you brought it up, because I was thinking it was just me!

They can give you medication for it (booo!), or suggest lifestyle changes, as well as book you with a specialist (to see if maybe there's an underlying cause). Lately, I've been around 105/60 - 110/68, so that's the lower end of "good" blood pressure. Where are you at?

Edit to add: I'm in the frozen north too! Another Canadian????

My doctor wasn't worried about it, but from a pure convenience stand point when I get dizzy every single tie I stand up I start to get annoyed. The doc recommended getting up slower, but pffffttt whatever. I recommended coffee. When I was off coffee every single time I stood after sitting for a while the room spun a little. I stopped fighting my addiction and it seems that self medicating with coffee raises my BP just a few points, so that Now it's only once every other day that I get dizzy standing. I think I'm 117 / 75 with coffee and lower with out. :drinker:

I have no idea what mine was last time. It was juuust high enough that the doctor just commented on how low it was but didn't make a big deal about it. My mom also has low blood pressure so it appears to be genetic

Yup! Canadian! It's been snowing for four days straight here! freaking -10 (but the nice news lady assures us that it will be like -11 tomorrow with the wind chill) no wonder I'm freaking cold. Perma frost in my bones

I used to go "blind" when I stood up, everything would just go white. That stopped in high school through. Your blood pressure is supposed to go up naturally as you get older. Plus I find I REALLY crave salty snacks

OMG I was just saying this to DH the other night! I usually come home, make my protien shake and by the time I am done it I have chills and goosebumps! I figure its just from the sweat sitting on my skin! lol

"..Second, learn about body heat. Your body heats up when muscles contract. So when you move and exercise, when your heart pumps, and when we digest food, our bodies are using energy to produce heat. Sometimes we feel cold after eating, but that is just because blood is rushing to your gastrointestinal tract and away from your skin."

My blood pressure is 108/65 pretty consistently. I didn't know that was close to something to watch. I thought it was something to be proud of. I do get dizzy pretty easily though hmm. Learn something new everyday...
