Strength/Cardio: What Burns More?

I just finished 30 minutes of a kettlebell workout. It is strength and cardio with the emphasis on strength. My muscles are fatigued, unlike when I do the 30 Day Shred, which is more exhausting. I listed the kettlebell workout under "circuit training" and want to make sure the calories burned are accurate. Anyone know if the workout I did is comparable to the 30DS? 30DS is a 20 minute workout, and both of these workouts tire me but in different ways. I sweat a lot doing the 30DS, not so much with the bell.

  • Usually anything that involves some sort of weight training will burn more calories. Your metabolism actually increases for up to 72 hours after a solid weight training routine. People often make the mistake of neglecting it and just do cardio based workouts. Cardio is good, but I think weights in conjunction with cardio is the best thing you can do.

Thanks for the info. I wanted to increase my workout with strength since the 30DS is a lot of cardio.

Awesome to know it's a metabolism booster!

I feel like my routine is super effective now. :)
  • For sure. You have to remember that metabolism is based on lean muscle tissue. The more lean muscle mass you have the higher your metabolism will be:) This will help lower body fat faster and keep it off longer!
