My parents don't support me at all. My mom mocks me and my dad thinks i'm wasting my time. Today while i was working out my dad enters the room and lights a cigarette i was a little frustrated and unfocused. I was also unable to finish my workout. Just wanted to get this off my chest

Well that is what you have all of us for ! We are all here for the same thing, so we understand what you are going through ! You can do this !!!!0

All the more reason to be motiviated and prove them wrong! Your healthy choices are convicting them. If you change, then that makes them think about their own health and maybe changes they should make. They don't want to change, so they are trying to control you and discourage your choices. Don't let them! Don't give up, you are so worth having good health. Fight the good fight, you can do this! Stuff like that just makes me want to gut it out all the more and fight harder, I hope you'll consider doing the same.0

I am SO sorry. That's just not cool.0

Just keep going, you're doing it for yourself really and nobody else. We're all here to support you :0) Hope you don't get disheartened by others that aren't supportive.0

They are prepping your determination for when you go to college. If you can survive them, then you can survive a binge-drinking, midnight snacking, lazy but partying roommate. :-)0

I agree - we're all here for you - prove them wrong! Get outside and finish your workout out there.0

I am so sorry. My parents are toxic too. My father is diabetic and basically he likes to tell my siblings and I that some day we will all be diabetic just like he is. He basically WANTS us to get diabetes, so he isn't the only one with it (and yes, it was his own fault, he was overwt and has always eaten a horrible diet), and can feel better about himself bringing other ppl down. Ignore them, in fact, use their negative attitude (sour grapes) to motivate yourself and to remind yourself of your goals and that you never want to be like your parents. I just keep telling myself, I will never be like my father, I won't give him the satisfaction of becoming a diabetic, since that is exactly what he would like to see happen.0

I know the feeling. While my parents support me, they don't ever seem to want to hear what I have to say about any of it. I generally have total enthusiasm about my health and fitness, but they tend to squelch it. Come be excited with us girlie0

I need to thank my husband. Last night, I was all about getting dessert. I just got it in my head that I needed dessert! Cheesecake, Pie, ANYTHING!!! My husband steadfastly talked me out of it, and I am so glad he did. He's right. I would have felt bad today had I given in.0

thanks guys for the support. One of the great reasons i use this site is because of the positive energy and supportive people. It really helps getting it off and having people that are or in similar situations.0

my parents werent all that great either! My dad would make comments like I acted like I was better than them because I choose not to eat what they did and would eat something else, but I have struggled with my weight but never to the extent they have, I am proud of that! All the health problems they are now having I am glad that I made the good choices! Dont give up and keep up your healthy choices, sometimes you just cant make people understand but if your persistant your actions just might prove your point and rub off on them! :)0

even after almost a year of being at my goal weight, my mom is STILL trying to kill me with desserts... after all, comfort food and eating said food equates to happiness, right?!0
