Alright all you die hards I want to know how do you handle family events, special occasions, eating out and holidays? I was wondering how you maintain such great clean eating. My family would kind of think Im nuts if I kept opting out of everything, seeing as Im not really over weight either. They dont force me to eat food but i honestly feel bad if they prepare food for me and I dont eat it.

Be honest & Blunt with your family & friends. You can eat with them - just tell them ahead of time - what to make kinda of - or bring your own food.
I had a hard time to tellin' my Mum In Law about my weight loss journey - she told me that ' I looked fine'...She ask me what I want to eat etc.

    Best of luck sweetie

I save calories for the event, but still don't try to eat anything too unhealthy unless it's a *very* special and rare occasion.

TBH there are times when I find clean eating is impossible. When I am in Italy, I can't not drink in the evenings, it would be both rude and incomprehensible. I can't not eat pasta, because that's what vegetarians eat there. I just try to keep drinking a lot of water (more than normal), keep the fat to a minimum, and try not to eat bread.

bring a "clean" option for people to share. This weekend I am heading to my BF cabin and I am bringing a veggie tray to share with the group. I plan to eat a small amount of what they make but fill up on raw veggies first.

I will admit that although I try to eat clean I'm not really all that good at it yet. That being said, I do find I do much better Monday thru Friday and then tend to slack off on the weekends. My trainer says stick to it 80% of the time and the benefits will be there so I figure a meal out that isn't necassarily "clean" won't undo all of the work I've done. One of the things I do that helps me a lot in social situations is to ask what the person will be fixing then offer to bring something that you can combine with what they are making to make a suitable meal for you. For example we were going to a friends for a BBQ and she was making Grilled Chicken, coleslaw and potato salad. The Grilled Chicken was of course a good protein source so I knew I could eat that but the other menu items were a NO-NO. So I brought along a nice big green salad to share, with all sorts of great healthy stuff tossed in. I ate a big plate of green salad with the chicken breast she made. My friends all know my goals so no one even looked sideways at me...plus everyone else really enjoyed my salad! I stuck to my plan and I didn't insult anyone! Good luck!

One thing to think about is sharing your goals with your friends and family and educating them. I got back into a more healthier mind frame when my brother in law came over for dinner one night and brought his whole dinner because he couldn't touch any of the dinner that I made. I had gotten into reading WAY too much food porn and was making homemade gnocchi, chicken marsala even my salad had a ton of sugar and fat in the dressing. Before I had my third baby I was the one bringing my dinner everywhere. It was an eye opener and a catalyst for me (umm no wonder I couldn't get back down to my pre-baby weight and was actually gaining not maintaining) Your changes could really benefit other people by sharing them.

    smiles :)
