No Bikini for me

I wore one when I was 17. I looked good. I had a flat stomach and everything was in it's place! But I wasn't in shape. I was a teenager. I ate horrible and NEVER exercised. That lifestyle continued and I ended up at 228lbs and had 3 babies. I decided enough was enough and I wanted to wear a bikini again. No more *dresses* to swim in! I lost 90 lbs. on Weight Watcher's. Got healthy, worked out, ate right, and looked great with my clothes on. Bikini time? NO! I have too much saggy skin and stretch marks from being so heaving and from having 3 kids. Surgery is my only option but it's never going to happen because of how much it costs. I am in the best shape I have ever been in. Maybe I could get in even better shape but It will not change my body to be bikini friendly. I have to find peace somehow with wearing a full one piece bathing suit or those Tankinis with the little skorts. I will never be in a bikini again and that almost makes me sad. Why? I should be thrilled to be a size 6/8 and not a 22 but I can't help but feel trapped in my own skin. Somehow, some way I have to find peace with this. I'm just not sure how! Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, I have the same, from 2 pregnancies. I just do wear a bikini, though. Well, this year, for the first time. I just figure I don't care so much these days.0

Confidence and attitude are just as sexy as skinny thighs. I rock one but I make sure that it a) is age appropriate b) fits well and c) have a cover-up that is sexy to go ontop when I'm not in the pool or on the beach.0

What about a tankini! It would cover, I am sure you could find some really cute ones. or get one that has the front part, and the back is just the ties. Be comfortable in you skin! You have worked hard.0

I think I would look better and sexier in a Tankini so I will go with that. I want to feel sexy not walk around in a bikini feeling insecure.
I got to wear a bikini and I looked damned good in it, but that was then and this is now. I'm still hot, just two pregnancies later. No worries.0 -
Who decided that only models get to wear bikinis?
Personally, I like boy shorts with a bikini top.0 -
Maybe the one pieces that are covered in the front and not in the back.0

Give your skin some time to tighten. My husband lost 40 pounds and for the first year or two after losing the weight he had alot of extra skin but now (about 3 years later) his skin has tightened back up and is getting firmer0

I do wear those tankinis and they are cute but it's a bit hard getting over when you are surrounded by people wearing their cute bikinis...0 -
Stretch Marks....I have had 3 kids, I am 5"10 I gained about 120 lbs since highschool. So i have all tyes of stretch marks. I have lost just about 20lbs and 2 dress sizes in the past year and I can see more stretch marks. My husband said the other night that i have a scratch on my side. NO it is a STRETCH MARK! I also have not worn a bikini since I was in highschool. And I never will. I wish there was a cheap easy way to fix these nasty stretch marks. But it looks like they are stuck with me for life. Tankinis it is!0

Wow...I fell like you were writing about me, that is how similiar it is to my life. The only difference is I only had 2 kids. I totally understand how you feel. I have accepted the fact that I will always have to at least wear a takini. I have found that when you are tan the stretch marks don't look as bad!0

I hear ya! I will never ever wear one again but you know what I am ok with it. 2 years ago we got a pool and I rarely went in it because of my weight. I actually bought long board shorts and a tank to wear in the water. Then last year I got one of the full piece dress looking ones and went in a bit more. This year I have worked damn hard and even though I will never wear a bikini again I am going to rock a tankini with shorts! I think even when I was at my skinniest (although not fit) I was never "comfortable" in a bikini and often wore shorts with the bikini top but things change, life changes and I will leave the cute bikini's to my kids! My 2 year old is going to rock a pink ruffle one this year...lol.
I posted the cute tanikin/shorts I wanted from ebay...You could also try a monokini too. LOTS of options out there that still scream sexy!0 -

Just think of it this way. Stretch marks from weight loss are battle scares! I am proud of mine becuase it shows that I worked hard to lose alot of weight! I kinda brag about them LOL!0 -
I have 5 children... and when I lose the weight I want, I will be damned if I let stretch marks and/or less than firm skin keep me from wearing a bikini or anything else.....0

Hi dear, just enjoy your victories, you look really glamourous I am sure you'll be perfect in a swinsuit even if it is not a bikini....0

This is why I love MFP. Everyone is so supportive and inspiring!!! Thank you all!0

My saggy skin firmed up the more strength-training I did. Straight cardio may have gotten me skinny but it would have left me with saggy skin, I'm sure. That said, everyone's body reacts differently. My stretch marks are definitely less noticeable now that I've lost all the weight (they shrink together as the fat disappears) but they're still there. And I just don't care! I am proud of how hard I worked to have the body I have and I'll wear a bikini even if my stretch marks are visible. That said, I understand how frustrating it would be to have saggy skin after doing all this work!
My only suggestion would be to make sure to keep strength training which should help the circulation tighten everything up.0 -
The monokinis are very cute and hide my strech marks perfectly.
I tried to post a pic but it just will not work.0
