Any asexuals?
Hello all!
Was wondering if there were any asexuals/demisexuals/gray-As here on MFP. I'm personally a romantic asexual (don't ask me about gender preferences - I don't know yet). I'm female and 21 years old, but I've only just started experiencing light-weight romantic attraction in the last year - it's all rather new to me. Just after I started to think I might be aromantic...
I've never had an interest in sex, and I have little-to-no sex drive. I'm perfectly comfortable talking about it, but just have no interest in engaging in the activity! People sometimes say, "Oh, you will just find the right person one day". I'm terrified of this idea - I don't want to find the right person, it sounds horrific. :P
Does any of this relate to anyone here? I'd be very interested in meeting like-minded people.

*bows out and wishes you well*0 -
I wasn't sure what you meant by asexual, so I looked it up. It said "Married". I guess I'm asexual too.0

Doubt I'll have much luck finding others then :P0 -
LOL@RoadDog!!!
Hey, getting in shape, living healthy will probably heighten your sex drive. Feeling good about oneself is a GREAT Aphrodisiac!0 -

you never know, you just never know what's out here in the land of MFP stranger things have happened!0 -
A weightloss/health forum probably isn't going to be the best place to look for others who share your interests in that regard. The majority of the friendships formed here seem to be based on finding others who share similar health philosophies vs relationship things... good luck though!0

Exactly what I as thinking .... I get it everyday0 -
I love the way that there is always something interesting and different on the MFP boards!!
ITA with the person who said MFP seems to have a lot of "over"sexed people around (but really, is there any such thing as OVER sexed?! lol) - maybe all the exercise and clean eating just gets a lot of folks' blood pumping...to some body parts more than others! :bigsmile:0 -
i have read posts about EVERYTHING on this site. from ppl trying to share stuff, to people asking legit weight questions, to people just saying anything and everything to get a convo going. im not gonna knock this question, bc it could have to do about weight. i personally know when i wasnt happy with myself, i could care less to ever have sex. my advice to u, while i dont share in that problem, is take this time to work on urself and make urself happy! u never know how the outcome might turn out!0

I know that the other posts about getting healthy can up libido mean to be encouraging... but really, being asexual is just fine. There's nothing wrong with it, it's very normal, and it happens to perfectly healthy people.
Even people with crazy high sex drives have drops in libido sometimes.
Not everyone has one, and that's cool too!0 -

It doesn't matter what your sexual preference is or if you have non. The game here is life change. to get healthy and make friends. You will figure out what you want in the future or maybe a doctor can help.0

Agreed...there is much more to it than that is just the way you are. There are conditions like Adrenal Fatigue or PCOS that will make you feel this way and it because there is a hormone imbalance. Although an odd question for MFP, you never know what the source is and others may share your experience.
Human beings are made to breed, we aren't just that way. I would talk with your doctor and get some hormone tests run...then pray for the next partner you have...
Good luck...0 -
i don't know if I'd call myself asexual, but I definitely don't care for other people as I come to believe others do. I am married, but in some ways I suppose you could look at it more as convenience. I have sex (maybe once in 2 weeks), but I don't get all charged up over it. There are many things that I would rather do than that.
I'm sorry many of the others have made a joke of your request, but you may friend me if you like.0 -
Hmmm.... I thought asexual meant sex with yourself......:blushing:
So I guess I'll go find me a new thread....
:laugh:0 -
there are people average sex drive and then people with above average drive and perople with under average sex drives. I guess you are the opposite of a sex addict or nymphoman. A zero sex drive if I understand your position.0

Helenium, I guess you can see what the early posters meant when they said you probably wouldn't get many serious responses!
At 21, you are pretty young, but I think a lot of us would appreciate having gone through those years without our hormones dictating so many of our stupid choices! I am definitely a sexual being, myself, but have abstained for up to four years at a time. I say this without being asexual, because the desire was there, just not opportunities that I felt comfortable with.
You may find your desires change as your habits and body change, but you may not. I know a few people who are healthy and positive and asexual. From what they have told me, this doesn't always mean that you will be free from the "biological clock" when you get into your 30's, but I still suggest you disregard those who insist that it is necessary.
As for the romantic streak, you may be seeking the intimacy that many people assume is involved in sexual relationships. At your age, you have a better chance of finding that kind of intimacy without the sex - sex involves and stimulates complex hormones that we often mistake for intimacy, even without actually talking to each other. People who tend to be more introverted tend to be more likely to seek one or two close friendships.
I hope that you find what you seek without feeling pressured for more than you are comfortable with!0 -
My best friend post college was asexual for the longest time then one day.....lets say now he likes the ladies but for the longest time he straight up said he was asexual, no joking.0

my friend Krystal is like that she is TERRIFIED by sex even talking about it.
I keep telling her,"one day you'll find the right person" but she refuses.
I am interested in sex and tend to talk about it sometimes and she litterally puts her hands over her ears and sings hymns.
I am curious how many asexuals there are on here.0
