Ok. So I had an intense cardo day burning almost 2000 calories and eating about that much as well. My last cardio session was from 9:30-10:30 p.m. (I know, very stupid. Didn't get to sleep til 1:30 a.m. That was awesome.) Anywas, when I woke up I wasn't hungry and even though its about 1 p.m. now I'm still not very hungry. Haven't eaten anything yet. What is my body doing, I'm wondering. Starvation mode? I don't know.
Thanks

Crap! That's what I was afraid of. LOL0 -
yep, once you start make sure you plan well. I think your metabolism is sleeping, so its kinda like starvation mode. Once you eat something it will wake it up and you'll be hungry.0

Eat! You need to eat, even if you're not hungry. At least get a protein shake or something!0

This happens a lot in men and lean women. Strenuous cardio tends to act as a temporary appetite suppressant. The effect can last anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. Be sure that you're eating plenty of protein and low-gycemic index foods during this time, or your appetite will return with a vengeance once you come out of it.0

Do you think this is bad for your metabolism?0 -

It's not starvation mode, if that's what you're wondering.
Appetite suppression due to cardio is only bad for your metabolism if, when it ends, you get so hungry that you overeat. Eating protein and low-GI foods immediately after exercise will help prevent this.
Scientists aren't entirely sure why it happens (and it only happens sometimes, with some people, after some activities... for instance, swimming does not have this effect) but they think it has something to do with endorphins being released during exercise, or the raising of the body temperature.0 -
Thanks for all the info. I've learned alot from this site and the people!0

ahhhh thats me thats me.... everyone on here always goes on about how hungry they are after exercising, blah blah...but not me, My appetite is normally supressed for 2-3hours after my exercise, but if I go swimming boy I could eat the world in one sitting after(but it only happens when I swim). During that 2-3 hours I kinda force myself to eat little bits and normally I'm okay, but if I dont I'm really hungry the next day. weird how different bodies react to different things aye?

That's me too. Swimming makes me hungry; most other exercise makes it difficult to eat for a while. Another thing that seems to make a lot of people eat but suppresses my hunger is travel. Even when I'm not trying to lose weight, I always do when I'm away from home for more than a day or two at a time.0
