Prilosec? Amitiza? Omeprazole?

Anyone else on stomach meds? What might be your symptoms?

I'm wondering who all else out there might be having stomach problems, perhaps from taking too many pills/supplements that aren't mixing well together?

I'm on day three of stomach meds and searching for someone else to talk to about stomach issues.

I had stomach/chest pains a couple of years ago. After eating certain things, I would get acute abdominal pain - almost crippling.

I went to see my doctor who thought I probably had some kind of gastritis, blamed it on my lifestyle [1] and prescribed omeprazole and sennakot. She also told me to avoid all the foods that someone with reflux and/or an ulcer shouldn't eat.

It didn't help much, but to avoid the pain episodes, I pretty much starved myself and lost 30 pounds in a just a few weeks. Not a happy time.

Anyway, I felt that doctor was useless and had no clue what was going on, so I did some research and I referred myself to a specialist, who told me I had gall stones and a subsequent cholecystectomy sorted everything out :-)

Turns out, the pain was caused by the movement of gall stones, and this happens when there is fat in the food that needs digesting so the gall bladder releases gall into the stomach to deal with it.

OK, this is not likely to be your problem, sorry, but just a cautionary tale on how much faith to put in doctors and the meds they prescribe.
