I didn't binge!

Okay, I'm pretty sure this doesn't have a right as a success story, but for me this is a huge achievement.. For months now I've been stuck in a horrible habit of eating absolutely nothing some days and then when I try to eat a balanced diet, I end up binging on 2500+ cals.

But today I woke up, ate my breakfast calmly (I usually can't stop when I have my first foods of the day, I don't know why) and I had some yoghurt, toast, and then stopped.

Stopped! Just when I'm nicely full, not with my stomach in pain like all the previous times.

By this time I'm usually way overboard, and crying/feeling angry at myself. I feel in so much more control now. I cannot wait to carry on being healthy and happy now I know I can do this!

Have a wonderful day and good luck with all of your progress.

    WOOHOO!

One meal, one day at a time....

(and I understand this, although my binges usually start at night)

    Great achievement...definately belongs here! :flowerforyou:

I find that once I have brekky I feel more hungry throughout the day compared to when I skip breakfast...which I don't do anymore.

    Thank you!

Mine used to be at night, but from not eating I'd always wake up in the morning with a huge appetite and before I knew it, most of the food would be gone.. But it would continue until night time as well! Worst feeling ever.

Good luck to youu too :)

Thanks! Believe it or not, even though breakfast caused me to binge I still see it as the best meal of the day! Gets your metabolism going and leaves you less cranky. It's all about moderation I suppose. I'm glad you don't skip it anymore :)

That's so awesome! Good for you. It's the small non scale victories that really help us keep going!
  • Awesome!
  • well done:):) i know exactly how you feel.

my binging usualy starts either around 4, between lunch and dinner and then again at 7/8. i think its because i feel guilty if i eat something big and substantial but i end up munching on unhealthy things that would add up to the same amount of calories!!
  • Thank you all for your kind messages :) Really means a lot. I wish you all the best with your goals as well!

Great job!! I have a similar success story...yesterday I had quite the emotionally turbulent day and these are the times I lose all control and eat and eat and eat and eat. Well I noticed in the morning that I was eating more than normal, not quite binging yet but definitely mindlessly eating, so I caught myself before it got out of control. I started distracting myself with other things than food. All in all I stayed under my calories but it's funny I did notice later that I went over my carbs a bit which I almost never do, I guess that's what I reach for when I'm upset lol. Thanks for sharing, the small successes are just as inspiring and thanks for letting me share too!!!

That's amazing! I usually give up when I've already overeaten, I could never really stop myself before I was totally in the red zone. No worries at all and thanks for sharing :)

Great job! I thought I had myself in pretty good control. Then I made homemade almond joy yesterday, and ate a few too many. I only went over abut 200 calories, but I have been going over a few calories every day lately.

Every stairway begins witha single step! And honestly- that first step is usually one of the hardest (it was for me anyway)! Congrats on your achievement! And best of luck with your weight loss journey! Feel free to add me if you want- i love motivating and cheering on other MFP "friends"!

    I haven't binged since I started here....

My downfall was always wine and a huge dinner at the weekend.... I would serve myself a portion the same size as my OH (who is almost 6ft and has a manual job) plus I'd drink the majority of the wine, and have dessert and probably pick at any left overs..

I used to go to bed feeling like I was going to burst and of course as I had overeaten I'd wake up the next day and do it all over again.

I always had the will power to be 'good' during the week but my destuctive weekend behaviour meant my weight crept up.

To be honest I am not even sure what changed - I just woke up one day 12 weeks ago and something inside of me just clicked!

I still have a few glasses of wine at the weekend but I no longer overeat... I stick to my calories and work-out more to allow myself any treats.

I can honestly say that I am not even tempted to overeat any more - my mind finally seems to be "getting it"

It all starts with baby steps OP, so best of luck to you

Well done! I think this is one of the biggest achievements you can have when you're a binge eater!

I used to (and still occasionally) have massive, massive binges. Thousands and thousands of calories, 10+ bars of chocolate in one sitting some times and when you don't have to do that, when you can stop after one... it's the most amazing feeling in the world and should be celebrated! Keep doing what you're doing and keep those binge-eating demons at bay!
  • Wow, I've just read through all of your messages. Never thought I'd get such wonderful feedback :)
Thank you very much! You're all amazing, keep it all up!

Even if you do binge don't let it hold you back because the problem is still there after the food is gone, so it would be better to figure out why you are feeling this way and what you can do to change it. I'm still learning this but don't rely on food for happiness because that is how I have gained 100lbs in the last 5yrs. usually if I just want to eat everything in sight I will drink lots od water and have some type of protein! you can do this don't doubt yourself!
