I am eating healthier, yet my nails are still very very brittle. What is going on.

My nails get stronger when I take a Vitamin D supplement. You could try that.

Vitamin E capsules have been rumored to help as well. I take a Calcium with vitamin D supplement, and then a separate vitamin D supplement. About once a week I'll use a vitamin E capsule to massage the oil into my nails and cuticles.

What did you think was going to happen in 13 days? You wouldn't see any changes in your nails for months (ask anyone who has ever damaged a nail how many months it took to grow out!).

And what is your definition of 'eating healthier'?

    Found this info:)
Make your nails as strong as a horse’s hooves, and take 300 micrograms of the B vitamin biotin four to six times a day. Long ago, veterinarians discovered that biotin strengthened horses’ hooves, which are made from keratin, the same substance in human nails. Swiss researchers found that people who took 2.5 milligrams of biotin a day for 5.5 months had firmer, harder nails. In a U.S. study, 63 percent of people taking biotin for brittle nails experienced an improvement.

Add a glass of milk and a hard-boiled egg to your daily diet. Rich in zinc, they’ll do wonders for your nails, especially if your nails are spotted with white, a sign of low zinc intake.

I understand where you are coming from, yet when I was pregnant within 3 weeks my nails were stronger and tougher.

it is open, and this really does not show anyone that looks at the serious changes I have made. I never would have eaten a veggie before this to save my life and everything was processed and prepackaged. I have started making my own meals, and going to for organic and low sodium. hell my butter is made with olive oil lol

because I think this is SERIOUSLY a waste of bandwidth....why ask a question that is dependent on people needing to know your your diet if you do not have your diary open so anyone can actually see what you are eating...

Wow, The exposed part of the nail is not alive! what you take in wil take months and months to have any effect on the exposed nails. Period.

Ok, I took a look at your diary (thanks for having it open) you're off to a (somewhat) good start, if you're really ready for feedback though, here it is. You've got to cut the processed foods you're eating, and it appears that you eat a lot of them. the tuna helper, special k bars, etc; these are all full of hfcs, hydrogenated oils, soy products, a whole host of other unhealthy stuff and absolutely no living nutrients! If you've read or listened to Bob Harper, Jillian Michaels, Mike Geary, or any of the fitness gurus worth their salt, they will all agree, shop on the outer areas of the grocery store! in the aisles is where you get all your processed stuff and almost all of it is no good for you! Start cooking for yourself. If you really want to see the health changes you are looking for (besides weight), you'll have to cut the crap i.e. processed foods, and start eating them as close to as nature intended, for lasting results. I know, because i've done it too. i've gone from being the worst fast food eater imaginable to eating organically, 95% clean, with almost no processed foods in my diet. And i've seen amazing changes in how my body is able to heal it's self. Forget the food commercials, billboards, etc these people are out to sell a product, and they'll do whatever it takes, including labeling junk as being "healthy". it's up to us to find the information and learn for ourselves what truly healthy food is, and processed food isn't it.
