3 weeks in and........a little discouraged

:ohwell: 3 weeks completed in p90x and I just took some pictures and I'm a bit disappointed that I don't see any significant changes. I know it's only 3 weeks, but my clothes fit more loosely. Measurements are relatively unchanged since pre p90x. Energy level better and I'm definitely stronger, but I'm a little discouraged (no so much that I'll stop pushing play). I'm glad today is a rest day for me, so I can bring it tomorrow.
I know Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was my body.

It is very hard when you dont see much of a difference but like you said it has only been 3 weeks. Keep it up you did not put it on in 3 weeks. Make sure you are drinking enough water and eating those exercise calories. I have learned the scale is evil and if you keep looking at it you get discouraged this is a life style change you should be feeling better that is what counts. Keep up the great work and dont worry it will come off. :drinker:0

Yeah, the funny thing is I know I'm in better shape I can feel it and people who have no idea I'm working out are telling me. Guess I was just expecting a little difference in measurements or something. I need to be more strict with body fat measurements and diet. Thank you for the encouragement.0 -
I thought it was a minimum of six weeks to see any real results in an exercise program...(although I've never pinpointed the source of that factoid.)
You are halfway to the six week mark, and already your clothes are looser. That's terrific.
Besides, even if it take 12 weeks to see anything significant....those 12 weeks are going to pass one way or another. You can be making improvements or staying the same. You have chosen the proactive path.
Don't get discouraged.
Keep up the good work!0 -

You're right, I've got to stay focused and keep it going. Thanks for your encouragement0 -
Having completed 2 rounds of the X I can tell you that your most signigicant changes will show during the last phase.
Do not be discouraged, my progress was the same way.

Thank you, I was taking pictures every week, but I'm going to stop it and take them at 30/60/90 days. Thanks0 -

I agree. Just take pics and measurements once a month. You did mention that the measurements did change, but not what your were expecting. Don't get discouraged. I saw a big diff after months 2 (including recovery week) and many people have great results after month 3. So keep PP.0 -

Thanks carvan, you guys/gals are great. It's amazing how we through the internet can encourage someone. How depressing would this walk be alone, thanks again.

What king of results did you get I mean all the goods after 2 rounds? I'm probably going to do p90x doubles after this 90 days and really focus in on the diet/nutritional aspect better.
Do you have before/after photos?0 -
I have been changing my lifestyle since March 13th, I have lost 29 pounds, 4 inches from waist, 4.5 from hips, 2 inches from thighs, 1.5 from arms. The picture I have up is current and there are a few from before. In the pictures you can see a difference in my face and my clothes fit way better. at least 41 pounds to go. :drinker:
The hardest part is when you reach a plateau, I have hit two of them and they lasted for about 4 - 6 weeks but my measurements changed, that is why I said to take measurements it helps when your body is readjusting. Take it day by day and weigh once a week or longer, measure once a month. :bigsmile:0 -

Will do thanks, I'm in my recovery week and I'm excited to tackle yoga x this afternoon. Keep up the good work, are you doing any resistance activity?0 -

I see sounds like yoga or pilates would be good for you. I understand to the Y seems to get more expensive even with an employee discountMy motto is do what you can when you can and you'll get results. Keep pushing, it will happen!!!

Right! Stay the course brother, and concentrate on feeling better, and knowing you are doing the right thing, the right way. The above post is abso correct, you didn't put the weight on in 3 weeks, so be patient with yourself! It seems that us guys really want the instant gratification of weight loss to be quick and easy, even more than the gals. Hang in dude, you're doing it right!0 -

Amen bro, it's the fast food mentality. I WANT IT NOW!!! Fact is that's why we fail, we don't get it immediately and impatience set in. It's also why fad diets have made millions. IT IS A LIFESTYLE LIFELONG CHANGE!!! Man that would be a good quote to put in my kitchen
Take care and keep it going!!!0 -

Kinda scared about trying other things I had dislocated hips, knees and ankles at birth which did not have any problems until a fall on my hip 7 years ago I had to have surgury on and then issue with my ankle, now have arthritis in both hips, knees and ankles the walking sometimes helps but I am in pain all the time it even wakes me up. so this makes me scared to try new things. I quite the last time because too much pain, but I cant this time I have to loose it for diabetes and lupus.0 -

Gotcha, you know your body better than anyone. Obviously, you have to be careful and I say do what you can without causing injury.0 -
Just wanted to send some positive thoughts your way......we all struggle with "off" times and that's what this place is for, to come here for support and motivation!!!!
Wanted to share something with you.....I have seen a couple of postings, had looked at your profile and just told my hubby about you last night!!! He did P90X for quite a while so I was sharing your info w/him. I was telling him how cool your pic was!!!
Keep trudging along..... look at MY profile and see how far I have to go!!!!! It gets depressing but I know that each day that passes that I've excercised and made wise choices eating is another day towards my goal--not just looking good but good health!!
Three weeks is not long really at all to be able to see big changes, but maybe take weekly pics of yourself, you maybe be able to see the changes in the pics if you put them side by side.
Keep it up, you can do this!!!!!!!!!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -

Its all good. I feel better and feel healthier than I ever have and I dont let my issues get in my way to be fit. We all have our issues. Now hope I've gotten you motivated, if I can keep going so can you  :laugh:0 -

Thank you very much for the encouragement, it is apprecitated. You keep pushing on too and I've decided to take no more pics/measurements/weight until day 30/60/90. We'll see what happens, thanks again and be blessed.0
