I noticed today that that using a different ellipitical machine gave me different total calories burned. I usually work out at lunch time for 30 mins cardio on the interval set workout. I bring up the inclince to 7 and resitance 5. Usually id burn anywhere from 350 to 420calories (if i really push my self). I did the same today on another ellipitcal and only burned half the usual calories (280) any advice?

I have heard that ellipticals don't typically give the most accurate read-outs. I feel like they overestimate for me. I don't feel like I'm working as hard for the calories as I do when I jog. Interested in other people's experiences, so bump!

most machines overestimate calories burned. If you want a more accurate count of calories burned, check out a HRM. Best money ever spent for me.

You get what you pay for when it comes to HRMs (and really, everything). Cheap ones won't be any more accurate than the elliptical machine you're currently using. If you do buy an HRM, make sure it comes with a chest strap. The watch only kind are cheap and inaccurate.
