So, I love cardio workout! I love going for runs, running on my elliptical, sports, etc...but I hate the whole idea of toning and lifting weights. I have some hand held weights that I use when I do my DVDs but I rarely do my DVD now that I bought my elliptical. I don't have a gym membership and I was wondering what you guys do to tone up and get firm. I really want to focus on my arms and stomach area. Thanks so much...(sorry about a repeat question if it is one...I still don't understand the search button..its weirdh haha)

Cardio kicks my butt, and I recently started working out with kettlebells and bought a DVD to work out at home. I am excited to use weights to tone me up and build muscle to increase my metabolisim.

There's a ton you can do just with your own body weight!

Start with the Big Three: Push-ups, Pull-Ups and Squats and build from there! :-)

This is how I started and I'm now using 30 lb dumbells for my upper body workouts! And deadlifting 115 lbs! I seriously suggest starting with your own bodyweight and going up from there! I would add in lunges and tricep dips those will cover all major and some minor muscle groups!

I've worn wrist weights when I do my housework, and I could feel it after a couple of hours! They were only 1 lb each, but it still helped.
  • Love the wrist and ankle weight ideas!!!

Go on about.com and look up Power yoga and pilates. This is something you can do at home, and you can make your own routine. It's great for strength training. In women, strength training is important each week as we lose bone mass in our 30s, 40s.
