Hi all,

I'm in the middle of using MFP to get back on track and I'm not the size I was when it was last bathing suit season! I'm going to be spending a lot of time on the water this summer (we just bought a house on a lake last August--we rent it out on a weekly basis so that's a whole other topic--starting a business during a rough economy. Yikes!)

Anyway, I was dreading all of that time on the dock, in a canoe or kayak and just all of that time around friends and family wearing a bathing suit.

I have a tip for the MFP women who don't want to spend a lot of money on a bathing suit and for those that are just not happy with what Target and Old Navy have to offer. Check out Land's End Canvas! Think: a cheaper J.Crew.

I got surf shorts, a surf top, and a bikini top to wear under the surf shirt all for $35 total. I signed up for the e-mails so I can take advantage of the various sales. The shorts provide more coverage than a traditional bathing suit bottom. I've been told you can buy LEC at Sears as well, but I typically buy online. The other clothes are a good price too for if you are in between sizes and don't want to spend a lot. I got a skirt for $10 on clearance as well.

Check them out! And go for surf shorts instead of fighting with a bathing suit bottom! :)

There's a 50% off sale going on right now. Everything is VERY well made. http://canvas.landsend.com/canvas/index.html

Thanks! I can't believe it took me this long to realize wearing shorts (cute ones, mind you) is really the way to go!

Thanks, Kellee! I'm so nervous about running a rental for the first time, but I'm excited to use it in between renters!

dlangenfeld, bathing suits are so expensive normally. Using shorts with a drawstring is great too as your weight changes.

I've preferred board shorts over a traditional bathing suit for at least a decade. Target has none this year. Thanks for this! I don't like to buy online until I've tried a brand a know it's sizing method. I carry most of my weight in my hips and thighs, so buying online has been an issue in the past. I think I just might have to go check out the local Sears.

sfoust66, glad I could lend a hand. I'm also figuring it's a better option while kayaking and sitting in a chair. I hate traditional bathing suit bottoms and I feel I'm too young for the little skirt look!
