Hello Peeps,
I have been lurking for a couple of days on the boards which I just found existed. I have been using MFP for about 7 weeks and started eating in a non suicidal way and seeing the inside of a gym in mid Feb. The funny part is I had a stroke back in the fall of 2008 and still did not wise up. Yeah, I am a single dad who is solely responsible for a ten year old boy and after having a stroke I just kept on doing the same thing. It's interesting (and sad) that an offhanded insult from a coworker is what got me inspired to do something.
One thing I have always had is a ton of excuses for why I could not do it. I work too much, I travel too much, I have to entertain clients, I have to get my kid to school, etc. Anyway, that is about it. I am making some progress and have been dragging my butt to the gym at 5AM in the morning and eating much better. I have not even had a Reese's Peanut Butter cup since Feb. 15th. That is tough considering I ate 30+ in one binge once.
Anyway, I appreciate the community and look forward to getting involved more.

Good luck to you man. Stroke runs in my family. Unfortunately, I've noticed I'm about a thousand mg over on sodium pretty much everyday, and that's trying to eat better!!!!0
