Well ultimately YOU have to help yourself! And YOU can do it. You must decide EVERY SINGLE DAY when you wake up today I am going to eat healthy, watch my portions, and exercise! Sometimes you will succeed, sometimes you won't - but it's NOT an excuse to give up and quit! Even 3 or 4 bad days in a row isn't an excuse. Just get back on the wagon again and again and again. Setbacks happen, but don't make excuses for them. If you do, YOU need to look long and hard in the mirror, remind yourself why you want this and kick your own butt back into gear.
Now with that little caveat out of the way I also suggest the following:
1) Drink lots of water
2) Try to avoid refined sugar as much as possible
3) Eat CLEAN - try this link on how to get started...
http://www.extremely-fit.com/fitness-tips/2011/01/8week-transition-diet/
4) Exercise
Also, educate yourself - read books. I LOVE the book "The New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women" by Lou Schuler (lift like a man, look like a goddess!), another good one - YOU on a Diet by Dr. Mehmet Oz and another guy whose name I can't remember.
Blog - it helps to journal your feelings and you can remind yourself where you're going and where've you been.
Log everything - EVERYTHING - I ate 3 french fries off my kids' plates at dinner - I logged it. Measure/weigh everything - no guess work in losing weight!
Try to eat 30 grams of fiber a day
Limit sodium to 1500 mg/day (American Heart Association recommendation)
Don't drink soda.
Eat your exercise calories!!!!
Make lots of friends for motivation and support :flowerforyou:
I think that's it!!!! Lots of advice I know. I'm full of IT! (yes, that's a joke!) :laugh:0 -
Oh I forgot to mention I'm also a fan of custom setting your diary to change your macro nutrients to 40% carbs, 30% fat, 30% protein. MFP's default for protein is too low (IMHO). Aim for 1 gram per lb of body weight.

Welcome! I joined last month and love it! Just stick with it and try not to get discouraged when you hit a plateau. I'm sure we've all been there. Best wishes and feel free to add me as a friend.0
