C25K question

I am doing the C25K training program and I am just finishing week 6. Today it said to run 2 1/4 miles or 25 mins. My questions is should I be more focused on the distance 2 1/4 or just focus on running the 25 mins. The reason I ask is that my pace is quite a bit slower than that. In the 25 mins I probably ran 1 1/2 - 2 miles. Should I run the 2 1/4 miles or run the 25 mins and then stop no matter how many miles it has been. Also, I am running my 5K on May 7th. My goal is to finish, I am not super worried about my time.
