Exercise Help

I usually eat dinner, then wait an hour or so (log my food for the day), and then exercise. I have a step machine which tells me how many calories I burn based on height, weight, speed, etc. I usually on go 'til I burn off enough calories to be at my calorie goal. Or I'll do a combination of exercises, which I ultimately do until I burn off all the extra (red) calories.
Is this healthy, (un)safe, (un)productive, or perfectly fine??

I guess that depends a little on how many calories you are trying to burn off. If it's 200, no problem. If it's 2000... then maybe you're moving into "unhealthy obsession" territory. One thing to keep in mind, the cal readings on those machines are rarely exact (and usually over shoot actual calories burned). You might want to google it, but I always subtract at least 20%ish of the account for error. Also, your body will adapt to whatever exercise you do regularly. The longer you do the same thing, the more efficient your body will be and thus even less calories will be burned.0
