Can eating "bad calories" like junk food or fast food make you feel like crap mentally? I had BK for breakfast and, even though I exercised and am under my calories for the day, I still feel like crap! Is that just me needing to snap out of a bad mood or can the quality of the calories you eat affect your mood? I just feel blah. Half guilty, half icky? I don't knowwwwwww

Advice?

    yes.

that isn't really food; it's so heavily processed that your body can't really utilize any of it. it's mostly salt & fillers. what I would do is drink a bunch of water and see if that makes you feel better.

I know for me personally, its just knowing that I ate something that was prettty bad for me, and there was nothing good that came out of it for my body. Its like the little devil and angel on your shoulder. One telling you to "eat it and it will be delicious!!", and the other saying "dont do it! soooo bad for you!!"
Its the way of thinking we all get when we begin to see food as fuel for our body...

Yep. Watch Super Size Me. Depression was one of the side effects of the McDonald's only diet. The guy only felt happy when he was eating, the rest of the time he felt like crap.

"Fast Food Nation" is a great book explaining why we love and hate fast food. It's an interesting read for sure!

also a good read is "diet for a new america" by john robbins. it's old, but sturdy and still very relevant.

i have noticed that when i eat "poorly" it triggers me to continue to eat poorly. for me (and i can only speak for myself) it is sort of like a drug addiction. so long as i steer clear of "trigger foods" i am a moderately clean eater; the moment i put trigger foods in my mouth, i feel like i need more. most of the time it's okay and it will only last a day, but occasionally it will lead to a binge which i can only break by being very strict for a couple days.

this is why i don't keep trigger foods in the house. i'm less likely to abuse them in public.
