Having trouble with "healthy" goals

Just a little background, I'm 19 and I've battle with bulimia for 5 years. Before my battle started, I was 140 and looking back now, I looked great. At my heaviest, I was 175. I'm down to 169.5 now. I decided this time I would lose weight the healthy way, without bulimia. It's not been easy, but I have been doing it. I've only purged 2 times in the last month, which is a big success over the 5-7 times a day in my bad days. However, even though I'm doing better with not purging, another concern has come up. I am having a hard time coming up with a "healthy" goal weight. I want to be thin so badly, I'm starting to get into an unhealthy mindset. I want to be too thin. I fantasize about being 100lbs, which would not be good for me. Does anyone have any advice on this subject?

    Hello,
I just want to say, I'm so proud of you!
I too, struggled with bulimia, in secret, for two years. I managed to overcome it with ONE very good friend who knew about it, and my current boyfriend keeps me on track. I've not purged in two years, and I want you to be able to do the same. You're stronger than you feel, and you need to remember that at your weakest moments. as for the healthy goals, thats the same problem im having, but I've found new motivation to just get down to business and get this done!

As advice for a healthy weight, look at BMI, find the weight range for normal BMI for your height, and pick somewhere in the middle of the range, and make it a goal to never fall below the second-to last number in that range. This will help keep you motivated to do this the healthy way!

I wish I could help. I feel the same way. I haven't been diagnosed, but I definitely share the distorted view and want to be a lower weight than what's healthy and happy for my body (What it is now...) and the bad relationship with food.

    It's a monster.

If you ever need to talk, know I'm here.
  • So proud of you! You've taken the first step by realizing that you looked amazing at 140 pounds. What if you forget a weight goal and pick a clothing size goal instead? or a distance to run? Feel free to add me if you want :D
