Okay, so now that the weight is starting to come off, all my good work pants are starting to hang on me. What's really sad is some of them are pretty new and are my favorites!!! So my question is, has anybody tried taking their clothes to a tailor for them to "take in" to a smaller size? If so, how successful was it? Just thought paying $20 for a tailor is cheaper than $50 for a new pair!!!

I would really like to know this too...
  • I have not done this. Although I have a Tux jacket that I need to have tailored (it looks like a tent!!!) so I I understand what you're going through. I actually gave away most of my clothes, and am slowly buying back a new wardrobe.

I haven't lost enough weight to be doing that yet, but I have a few things that I really like and want to keep; they're almost brand new yet!

I'm looking forward to seeing what others say.

It depends. I have a friendly garmet-alteration place up the road - something simple litle taking up hem lines, or moving some straight-forward seams is cheap enough. But if the garment has pleats or other complicated waistband fanciness then it might be more difficult and hence more expensive.

I've given away most of my too-big clothes, but kept ones that can be belted, wrap dresses and tops etc.
