I know they always say how much you should work out a day but there are so many different ways you could be doing that and different amounts of calories burned. So I am wondering if anyone knows not how long to work out each day but what is a good calorie burn per day to lose?

It depends on what results you are wanting...
There is no set calorie burn...
As long as you are eating within your range of calories you really honestly don't NEED to burn calories...
Instead you should work out until you are dog tired... or until your muscles cant lift any more...
Cardio burns fat, but it also burns muscle... make sure you are lifting weights to help replace that muscle.0 -
It really depends on your goals.
That's why I like this site so much.
If you just want to lose wait, just stay within your calorie range, although I would always recommend anyone to get some type of exercise in at least three days a week.
If you are like me and have bad eating habits then you can use the tool to track your meals which will dictate how much exercise you need to put in to offset the calories you are over your daily range.
Finally if you want to tone or build strength, then you will need to up your calories (hopefully of good foods) so that you will have a net effect in your calorie range.
Hope this helps a little.0 -
I go to the gym every morning before work. Usually in for about 45 mins mixing cardio and little weight lifting on the chest press etc.
i say do it when you can and for as long as you can! Any is better than none :-)
I wish i could do more but the my gym opens at 7am and i have to drive 45 mins to work from the gym. So 45 mins gives me some time after to shower and get ready for work at the gym
Its starting to get a habit now which is great :-)0 -
It really does depend on what your goals are and what works well for you. I started out with a 600-800 cal burn each day (cardio only - I do not log my strength training cals burned) but that was just way too much for the amount of food I was willing and needed to consume to keep my body out of starvation mode. I now goal for 400-600 cals/day. (again cardio only, not including strength training) Sometimes I reach this in 25-30 mins and some days I need the 40-45 mins depending on the workout that particular day and how I'm feeling. You need to listen to your body, and find what works best for you. (I also want to make sure that whatever I do now, I will want to do for the most part the rest of my life without compensating myself.....that way when I reach my goal,,,it will be easier to maintain.0
