Replacing heavy cream in a recipe?

I wanted to make potatoes au gratin for Easter and have a great recipe, but it calls for heavy cream. What is a suitable lower calorie substitute? Thanks in advance for your help :flowerforyou:

Try evaporated skim milk (in the canned goods section).

I have also used half n' half as a substitute in recipes to lower the fat. I haven't been able to tell a difference.

I replace with 2% milk...and if it needs to be thickened, just add some cornstarch.

This is a pretty good suggestion. Just add the corn starch slowly or you'll end up with gravy.
