A floating calorie budget!

I know MFP gives you a nice calorie budget to work with but lately i have been trying something different...
Ok, here goes...
I decided to customize my own budget and make it 1,000 calories per day... which i know is not enough calories, but I add my exercise calories to it each day and it becomes a floating budget... On the days that i want to eat more, i exercise more so i will have a bigger budget.... So the premise is, you have to earn what you eat by burning the calories...
this morning i burned 807 calories, so my budget for today is 1,807 calories... I have only done this for two days, but it really has made me more aware of my food choices and gave me a muched needed attitude adjustment after being on MFP for over 420 straight days...
I can always adjust my calorie budget when i drop a little more weight (Im'm in maintenance mode)
het just wanted to share, it may not be good for you, but it makes this thing sort of a game for me... Holla

To each their own but according to MFP you should be eating 1200 and your exercise calories too... but you can make your own decisions. Best wishes0

sounds like what your doing is figuring up your total calories for the week and then adjusting each day. For example. If you are to each 1,500 calories a day then you eat 10,500 calories a week. If you have 2,500 calories on the 1st day of the week then you can only eat 1,333 calories on each day after that until you reach the new week.0

That's actually a good way to think about it. That's something I thought about trying but I was unsure of the accuracy of my calorie burns. I hope it works fantastic for you!!!!0

Your strategy is sound but the 1000 calories seems kinda low.
Also remember you are what you eat so just eating whatever is never a good idea.
I'm talking form experience because I still have my weaknesses (Beer and Fries).0 -
Wow, thats a really good way to look at it though. I'm sure after do this for over a year you might get a little bored. But your weight loss is really impressive. I'm inspired and this will give me new ideas when I start getting bored.0

That's a great idea, kind of like a bank account, you can only spend what you deposit. Go for Don!0

I think you are a creative genius! Changing things up in your diet and exercise is key!0

Back in the day, my doctor put me on 1000 calories a day and I lost 45 pounds in 3 months! I was exercising like crazy too. But that was before they invented starvation mode! ;-)0
