Constantly Cold

Has anyone else noticed being constantly cold. Most of the time I have to wear a sweater or have my heater on in the office. This wasn't the case before I lost weight.

Yeah, same. We're having a thermostat war in my office.0

This happens to me a lot when I am losing weight. Interested to see if others reply and if anyone has any idea why?0
-
Yes, I've lost about 19 pounds and notice that I get cold faster already. I still like it cooler than most people though.0
-
YES -- I am ALWAYS cold. Everyone tells me it's because I don't have any fat insulating me anymore.
Part of my issue, too, may be my hypothyroidism. That is one of the signs of that (an increased sensitivity to cold).
You certainly aren't alone!

We luck out in our offices. Each of us has our own little heater so unless someone is in my office I can do whatever I want with it. TG!0

I felt like a popsicle all winter long.0

I am pretty much always cold at work, and I was even before I lost weight. I think I have poor circulation or something!
I basically leave a sweater at work all the time. My hands are actually the worst... they're always freezing, so much so that I wear fingertip-less gloves in the office.0 -
I'm normally the one that is too hot...I even went all winter wearing a hoodie, no jacket, and I live in Minnesota! But the last month, I've been freezing! I use 2 blankets at night and have to wear a jacket all the time. I especially get really cold while drinking water and after eating.0

I am always freezing! My thermostat stays off most of the day and I live in Texas. At night when the hubby is home he puts it on 73 and I about chatter my butt of because its cold to me, lol.0

I'm getting cold too and that used to never be the case. Used to be that I could be standing in a room that was 50* and still break a sweat. But, i'm thinking, and i'm not a scientist so i don't know, that since fat is an insulator and we're losing weight we are losing our insulation. Which is fine by me, cause I hate sweating... unless I'm exercising.0

Here's the other thing-- it's not just that you have less fat-- when you become more fit (exercising), your heart doesn't have to work as hard to pump your blood-- it's like a highly efficient car doesn't use as much gas to travel down the highway.
So, heart beating slower also means your body "runs" cooler.0 -
Me too.....
I just searched on google and found this....
Should I be nervous? Should I increase my daily calorie limits?

Hypothyroidism, anemia, low levels of iodine (though this is rare in most of the world due to iodized salt) - there are a few causes and it's annoying. :-D I had the "feet of a dead man" even before losing weight all WINTER long. :-/ My fingers were always frozen, too. I can't seem to keep iron in me very well.0

I am always cold, and always have been. Particularly hands and feet- I actually have a heating pad at the foot of my bed- even in the summer! I always thought it was a circulation issue....but if you lose weight, it would stand to reason that less insulation means less body heat. Surface area to volume ratio changing and all...0

I am B12 deficient, iron anemic and have hypothyroidism. I use a winter comforter and flanel blankets even when it is 25oC outside in the summer. I freeze all winter in the cold weather and freeze all summer in the air conditioning at work. I use my space heater year round!.0

Your metabolism is slowing down!!0

I am forever cold, unless its 75 degrees or above.....good thing I am in FL♥0

I'm not. I lived in Alaska for a few years and haven't been cold a single day in the lower 48 since.
However, I like to pretend that I am since all the skinnny girls continually gripe about being cold....it must be the "in" thing.0 -
Yep. I've lost alot of weight and I've turned into a walking popsicle. My hands and feet are always freezing. Not sure why, maybe less fat to keep us warm? A more efficient metabolism conserving energy? Not sure...0

That's insulting. There's nothing 'in' about being cold.0 -
Yup I am colder. I use to always wear short sleeves all year round. Now I wear long sleeves and HEHEHE socks to bed!0

Less insulation.
I'm always freezing...sneaking over to the thermostat in the office to turn it up more and more.
I'd love to live somewhere hot!0 -
Temp here is 78 and I have on jeans and a long sleeve tee with a short sleeve tee over it.
I never used to be cold until I lost 55lbs. My finger tips get so cold they go numb.0 -
That seems to be the only drawback I've experienced since losing the weight. I'm freezing all the time....of course I do live in Wisconsin:ohwell:0
