OK let me preface this by saying one thing........I don't cook! But I'm trying and I have a quick question.......if I want to eat 8oz of something....like shredded chicken.....if I put that chicken in a 1 cup measuring cup does that equal 8oz of chicken? I've asked for a food scale for Mother's day but until them I'm trying to figure out the best way to try and calculate how much food I'm eating especially my meat portions. HELP! :flowerforyou:

Unfortunately no, the measure cup is a measurement in fluid ounces not weight ounces. I love my digital scale, and use it a lot. Just be careful when you log it in here... if you measure it raw make sure the food database says raw in the name because the number of calories per ounce changes between when meat is raw to when it is cooked.
When I didn't have a scale, I took the total weight on the package of chicken breast and divided it by how many pieces of chicken were in the package as a guesstimate.0 -
I read that 4 oz of meat looks like a deck of cards. so if you stack 2 decks that would look like 8 oz.0
