Those who follow Bodyrock.tv - is a timer really necessary?

I was going to start doing them without one, but I see that she always uses a Gymboss Interval Timer. But is this really necessary? Do any of you do her workouts without one? Are there any huge differences in the results?
Thanks!!

I downloaded an HIIT app on my phone and just used that for a few of the workouts I tried of hers. Not as fancy with what you can program it to do, but it worked alright for simple timing intervals.0

I do it sometimes with just my phone set on the 30 second interval and push start after each exercise. Works for me.0

I was going to start doing this too. I also downloaded and app but haven't tried it yet. I think the idea is that if you are watching the clock you are not working as hard.0

Also the 300 rep workout is 30 reps of each and you just time how long it takes you to do all of them so no intervals required.0

Great ideas - I never thought of downloading an interval timer app.
Thanks ladies!! :happy:0 -
I love my interval timer, and would highly recommend investing in one. It was 20bucks well spent. It motivates me to do extra skipping, and to really push myself. I love it!0

yes i love my gymboss timer! the ironic thing is, i found out about the timer when browsing her website, but i actually have just used it for treadmill interval training so far, and not for her workouts. i think her workouts intimidate me!! (or maybe i assume they'll be intimidating because she's in killer shape! haha)
it's a great gadget and one of my top fitness gear investments.0 -
I downloaded an app on my iPhone for $1.99 it's called UltraTimer.. it's PERFECT0

I did Bodyrock.tv for a couple months with no interval timer. Many of her workouts you can just do a set # of reps and just push yourself during that set.
However, once I got my Gymboss, it held me to a whole new level. I absolutely love my Gymboss - and it seems to hold up well getting dropped on a concrete floor unlike Blackberries or iPhones, ha ha. Plus, yes you can use it for so many other non-Bodyrock workouts.0
