Gallbladder problems?

I have been experiencing pain on the right side and the middle of my abdomen along with nausea since yesterday morning. I have been working really hard at my diet and exercise but yesterday for breakfast I broke down and had McDonalds, so I am thinking that maybe my gallbladder is reacting to the bad food I ate.

I was just wondering if this is normal after you have changed your diet from eating the fatty foods and then relapse and eat them again or if anyone else has the same problem. I made an appointment with my doctor but this is all new to me.

Thanks for your help!

It sounds like it. I had gallbladder problems for years, but never related to weight loss or healthier eating, though I have heard a lot of people who have. Sometimes, all it takes is one wrong thing eaten to send it over the edge, too.

Because mine was never related to healthier eating, I'm not sure what advice to give...for me, I could usually ease the pain by eating small, light meals (half a can of soup, cup of brown rice, tofu, broccoli, toast with no or light butter). Just take it easy, and good luck! Feel free to message me if yo have any question, too. I had gallstones for 12 years and several attacks before finally having it removed two years ago.

I just had my gallbladder removed last year. My dr. told me that rapid weight loss can trigger gallbladder problems. I had terrible pain one night just under my ribcage and to the right side along with heartburn that could kill you and I NEVER have heartburn. I had also been getting unexplained bouts of nausea for what seems like forever. My sister is a nurse and told me I needed to have my gallbladder checked and it turns out I had "excessive amounts of gallstones". I had my gallbladder removed and no more pain or nausea. I'd have it checked out if I were you.

Just like cupajoe, I had mine removed in October of last year and I too, had very large stones. One key symptom that can clue you in as to whether it's the gall bladder ... does it feel like someone is standing at your side with one hand on your back and the other on your chest and pressing in with both? When I told my doctor about that, he knew immediately what was wrong, calling it "the gall bladder squeeze". I thought my weight loss triggered it, but pathology reports sent to my surgeon indicate it had actually been a chronic issue for years ... one that I was told two decades ago was an ulcer (thus the reason the normal treatments for ulcers didn't work). Have not had ANY problems since having it removed! Good luck!
