Hello to all you fitness pal friends!! My name is Geena and I joined fitness pal late last year, at the urging of my niece. (She lost 26 pounds using this tool). I started gung ho, as I usually do with diets, and then it just peeters out. I started using fitness pal again this April 2011 to coincide with my 17 Day Diet. I have to say, I've stuck to my diet for the first 17 days now, and am now ready to enter cycle 2 of the diet. I have taken off 8 lbs so far, and I feel great healthwise, my clothes fit me better, a little loose now, and my skin has actually improved. Must be all the water!! I have 32 more pounds to lose and hope to come real close to my goal by July, may not be realistic, but I'm hoping to come close. I look forward to hearing from some of you, and what works best for you, your goals, and just plain old support. I'm sure we could all use it!!

Hello. Welcome to MFP. I love it here, if for nothing else than to keep track of what I eat, and how my exercise affects that. It is cool! The friends you will find here are great and very motivational.
Good job on losing 8 lbs already! What is the 17 day diet? I need something new...I have not lost any weight in about two weeks. UGH! Keep on keeping on though. I do that same thing, I start a diet all gung ho, I buy stuff and go food shopping and just really get with it at first, then in a few weeks before I even know what is going on I am right back to the old eating habits and not doing anything right!
MFP helps me with that, I make sure to log every single thing I put in my mouth, and it keeps me under my calorie goal usually!
Good luck, add me if you want I can always use another friend.

Hi Reba971
I have to say that logging in my food keeps me honest. The 17 Day Diet works in cycles of 17 days. The first cycle is basically Chicken or Fish, Vegetables and Fruits and Probiotics (Yogurt). The next cycle you get to add in more foods from these lists including lean red meat and alternate between cycles 1 and 2. The third cycle adds in even more foods. Depending on the weight you have to lose, you may skip certain cycles. You can pick up a copy of the book at your local walmart or target, or its even available in e-book format. It is loaded with great information. I have to say that this has been the easiest diet for me to follow. There is nothing complicated about it. Give it try, even if you only have 10 lbs to lose, you will most likely lose it in the first 17 days. Thank you for your inspiration, I will definitely keep chugging along.....0
