Hello everyone, I am having a tought time when I get to the gym. I have all these big plans before I go there and then when I get there I only do half of what I said I would do.
I need to do a weekly challenge with someone or something. Someone needs to hold me accountable. Anyone up for weekly challenges? Let me know!

Are you setting your goals too high? If so maybe that is why you are not achieving what you want.
I have a hard time at the gym too. I do much better walking/running/biking outside. I go as far as I can away from home in half the time I have allotted for exercise and it takes me the other half to get home. Somedays that means I walk or run 8 miles when I would only have done 2 miles on the treadmill.0 -
Check out this challenge.

Checking in with these fine people is what gets me in the gym some days. ..
We all set our own goals on the challenge, and check in daily.:flowerforyou:0 -
I set my goals small and realistic so I can meet them. If I exceed them, I get excited, even though they are small goals to being with, since I work out on my lunch hour.
For example, I do :25 cardio (elliptical, treadmill, bike, etc) and then I pick a couple machines to focus on my problems areas. Today I walked/ran outdoors for :25 and then did the leg press machine, as well as the hip adductors/abductor (the thigh master, as I call it). Tomorrow will be :25 elliptical and abs & obliques.
Make your goals smaller and work to meet them. Exceeding them will happen faster than you think!0 -
I'll second what Bamboo said.....sort of. Take your exercise where you find it, put on some music and vacuum that floor, walk to your car in the furthest ( but well lit) parking spot and LOG those minutes of walking. Sometimes doing bits and pieces can add up. It motivates me when I log those little 15 minute dog walks and see that I have exercise calories to eat.
But yep, having a buddy sure helps, there's a thread somewhere here.....let's see if I can find it for you...Back in a few.

Having a buddy definetly helps... a lot! My wonderful wiff and I are *both* on this journey, together. It truly helps to have someone who can talk with you, and also conspire to be the best that you can. Plus, being able to also joke around, and give each other encouragement is a bonus!0
